CLINICAL SUPPORT
In line with the ALARA principle as well as the image gently and image wisely campaigns, it is important for our radiology departments to review and update imaging protocols regularly. Current protocols for CT imaging for both adults and children are tailored and specific to clinical indication with protocols that are aim to limit the number of scan acquisitions to a single most useful phase or to use of split bolus techniques or protocols. Multiphasic CT studies are now only reserved/ limited to specific indications; ie. liver, adrenal and pancreatic protocols. The use of ACR appropriate criteria can be used by radiologists and clinicians to choose the most appropriate imaging modality for their patients and by radiologists when designing appropriate imaging modality to answer the relevant clinical question.
